Does World of Warcraft use a unique programming language that deter bots?
December 21st, 2009 | by admin |One of the reasons why WoW is so successful is the strict crack down on cheaters/botters. I’m wondering why and how it’s so. Is it because WoW is written in a different language than conventional online games or do they have some kind unique system structure used for bot detection? Could you also name the language they use?
When WoW client starts up, it launches another program called Warden, which is WoW’s anti-cheat features. The reason it is effective while a lot of others are not is that it does things (like monitor all other processes running on your machine) that really make it borderline spyware and few companies would be willing to risk releasing into the public for fear of PR backlash.

they use every language the game is played in.
Bot detection isn’t that hard. Its really easy because if the person is logged on all day doing the same thing a GM can look at it and teleport to him/her and try answering and if not responded to then it must be a botter. Cheaters like speed hacking the have detection programs in the system

Simply put, the reason WoW has good protection from cheaters is the hard work and ongoing commitment of Blizzard. It has convention means of detecting scripts, however Blizzard takes it a step further by strict analysis of the in game performance through employees.
In case you are wondering which languages are used in the modfication of WoW, the answer is LUA Script.
While some scripts are considered illegal and will get your account banned, there are many addons which are legally promoted.
A legal addon as defined by Blizzard is one that does not in any way change the actual mechanics of the game.
An example of a legitamate addon would be Quest Helper which only servers to guide the player to where the goals of a quest may lie on the map.
However creating a bot to do your work is illegal.
